From today (18 November 2025), Companies House have introduced a new legislation requiring all directors and Persons with Significant Control (PSCs) to verify their identity.

Once verified, each director or PSC will receive a unique 11-digit personal code, which will be required to make any filings at Companies House from that date onwards.

As Authorised Corporate Service Providers (ACSPs), we can complete this identity verification on your behalf. Alternatively, you may verify your identity directly using your GOV.UK One Login account.

If you would like us to complete the verification, our fees would be as follows:

• 1 Director or PSC – £25 + VAT
• 2 Directors or PSCs – £42.50 + VAT
• 3 Directors  or PSCs – £57.50 + VAT
• 4 Directors or PSCs –  £70 + VAT
• 5+, please get in touch with your client manager for a quote.

To allow us to proceed, we will require two identity documents, which must be either:

• Two photographic identity documents from Group A, or
• One photographic identity document from Group A and one from Group B.

Group A – Photographic ID

• Passport or Irish passport card (can be up to 18 months expired)
• Identity card with biometric information from the EU, Norway, Iceland, or Liechtenstein
• UK Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) – can be up to 18 months expired
• UK Biometric Residence Card (BRC)
• UK accredited PASS card
• UK or EU driver digital tachograph card
• UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, or EU photocard driving licence (full or provisional)
• UK HM Forces ID Card
• UK HM Armed Forces Veteran Card
• UK Frontier Worker permit
• Government-issued photographic work permit
• Photographic immigration document or visa
• UK, Channel Islands, or Isle of Man firearms licence
• Other photographic ID listed on PRADO (e.g. National Identity Card – Pakistan, Crew Member Certificate – South Africa, Permanent Resident Card – USA)

Group B – Supporting Documents

• Birth or adoption certificate
• Marriage or civil partnership certificate
• Non-photographic immigration document, visa, or work permit
• Bank or building society statement
• UK local authority or social housing rental agreement (must show current address)
• Mortgage statement (must show current address)
• UK council tax statement (must show current address)
• Utility bill (must show current address)

 

Together with the identification documents, we will also require an active email address. This email address will be used to receive your personal identification code from Companies House. However, please note that the same email address cannot be used to verify more than one individual’s identity.

When you receive your 11-digit personal code, please:

• Keep a copy for your records.
• Forward the code to us so we can retain it on file. This code will be required for us to continue making filings on your behalf at Companies House.

If you are a director or PSC of multiple companies (for example, within a group structure), you only need to complete the verification process once. Your personal code will be linked to you as an individual, not to any specific company.
