“I was looking for a supportive working environment where I could develop my skills, gain practical experience and get the support I needed while studying for my exams. I also wanted a role where there was plenty of opportunity to learn and grow as an accountant.”

What advice would you give to someone considering a career in accountancy?
“I would recommend having good people and communication skills. As a certified accountant, you will spend a lot of time speaking with clients, both over the phone and face to face, so being able to communicate clearly and build good relationships is important. It is also useful to have a basic understanding of tax rates and accountancy laws, although much of this knowledge can be developed through experience and training. Finally, I would recommend considering an apprenticeship rather than going to university, as you can gain valuable practical experience while working towards your qualifications.”
